Candidates for office campaigning for May elections met on Sunday at the Texan Theater to field questions about important topics in Kilgore and issues relevant to voters. Hosted by the Kilgore Chamber of Commerce and the Kilgore News Herald, the forum gave candidates for mayor, Kilgore ISD school board and the Kilgore College Board of Trustees a chance to voice their opinions on how best to handle issues in the community. more

The Samuel Paul Dinkins Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution held their March meeting on March 9 at the home of Susie Merritt. Regent Judy Carpenter called the meeting to order and led members in the opening ritual. Chaplain Francye Phillips gave the devotional and opening prayer. Judy Carpenter led the group in the Pledge to the American and Texas flags followed by the American’s Creed. more
The Kilgore Woman’s Club hosted a luncheon at First Presbyterian Church on Thursday, April 11, 2019. Members of the Coterie Club, Kilgore Garden Club, Evergreen Garden Club and Civic Garden Club were invited. A total of 58 people were in attendance. The tables in the Fellowship Hall were decorated with musical instruments. President Linda Sartor welcomed everyone and led the group in the Club Collect. A delicious luncheon was served. more
Kilgore’s Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa International Honorary Organization of Women Educators recently hosted the Texas District V meeting on Saturday, April 6. District V consists of chapters in Marshall, Longview, Kilgore, Carthage and Sulphur Springs. Local chapter president Teresa Anderson welcomed 40 members from East Texas who came to celebrate “Spring on the Patio” at the Back Porch. Nine Alpha Rho members had decorated the restaurant patio with ferns and pot pants. more
