For the third straight year, Kilgore High School’s baseball team sits atop the District 16-4A mountain. The Diamond ‘Dogs clinched the district title for a third straight season Thursday at Driller Park, beating Gilmer, 12-2. The Bulldogs are 19-5, have won six in a row and are about to end the regular season. more
After an hours-long effort by coaches, parents and using lots of equipment, Kilgore’s Lady Bulldogs were able to get a tremendously-wet Stream-Flo Field ready to play for their regular season finale Thursday against Henderson. And it was worth it. Kilgore got a first-inning home run from a returning Bailey Downing and a rousing 1-0 win. more
Cameron Jackson, Emma Taylor and Zoe Craven are leading a rather large pack of bulldogs – of the Kilgore High School variety – to the UIL’s Region II track and field meet next weekend. Jackson won both the 100 and 200 meter dashes in this week’s area meet at Spring Hill High School in Longview; Taylor won the 800 meter run; and Craven won the mile run to be at the head of the class for coaches Phillip Lane and Robert Cooley. more
After what seemed to be an endless series of lightning delays, Kilgore led Midlothian Hertiage 2-0 with about 18 minutes left to play in the University Interscholastic League’s Class 4A Region II championship – 18 minutes and 34 seconds from a fourth trip to the state tournament since 2011. more
It’s been said that when you’re in coaching, every win is special, but last week, Sabine High School’s Michael Mayfield had a milestone victory that will be one to remember. Mayfield coached the Sabine Cardinals to a 10-0 shutout of rival Gladewater Friday night at Liberty City, earning his 100th career win. more
Five Kilgore High School tennis players will be on hand for competition today, in the UIL Region II tournament at Longview High School. Forecasters were expecting some inclement weather, but if possible, the tournament was to be played today at LHS. If not, another site or another day will be sought. more
Kilgore softball broke a 10-year playoff drought last year, and apparently, the girls have decided to simply not allow another, not even for a season. The Lady Bulldogs pounded overmatched Chapel Hill, 12-0, on Friday night, here at Stream-Flo Field. That leaves KHS with a 4-4 record in District 16-4A, with fourth place (the final playoff spot in the district) all but wrapped up – but with an outside shot at third, depending upon this upcoming final week of the regular season. more
SOCCER Lady Bulldogs, Sabine do well on District 16-4A all-district team Coach Heidi Hagan’s Kilgore High School girls soccer team finished their season a couple of weeks ago, but were honored in various portions of the District 16-4A All-District team, voted on recently by the district’s coaching staffs. more
