The 9-and-10 year-old all-stars from the Kilgore Boys Baseball Association represented the league quite well in last weekend’s Dixie Youth Baseball regional tournament in Athens.
The boys got second place, and also received the tournament’s sportsmanship award.
The 9-10’s were coached by Derek Domorad, and were Colt Barnhart, Carsyn Bynum, Damarion Brown, Colt Bulalrd, Cade Cox, Aiden Domorad, Kason Henry, J.T. Mercer, Brayden Nelson, Jordan Pierce, Jacory Walton, and Brayden Williams. Earlier in the summer, Chris Williams and Jaxon Warner were on the team.
Also recently, both KBBA 7-and-8 year-old all-star teams, Red and White, competed in their age group’s state tournament in Center. The Red team came out second. Both of their losses were to eventual tourney winner Mount Pleasant.
They routed everybody else, beating Hallsville 12-0, Longview 13-3, and Pittsburg, 16-15. Mount Pleasant's wins over Kilgore 7-8 Red were 14-13, and 11-1.
The 7-8 Red all-stars were Blade Chitwood, Kaeson Clayton, Daniel Garcia, Jaxon Herrin, Braddox Johnson, Mikel Ligon, David McGowan, Brayden Moody, Axel Sipes, Kellen Smith, Devin Tinney, and Rayshaun Williams. They were coached by Kelsey Clayton.
The White all-stars for 7-8 were Rafello Adamez, Carsyn Bailey, Gunnar Barnhart, Kaysin Brandt, Jamylon Franklin, Champ Monaghan, Carter Moore, Mavrix Rivers, Keion Sanders, Gavin Wall, Chase Wilcox, and Maddox Wright, and they were coached by Adam Moore.
That wraps the summer for the KBBA, who will likely open its new park on Commerce Street next year.
