The Kilgore College Fire Academy will host its first onsite evening basic fire academy beginning in March.
Classes will be held March 20 through Oct. 25 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 10 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Deadline to apply for the academy is Friday, March 9.
It will consist of the full Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) recognized academy curriculum.
Classes will be held at the Bert E. Woodruff Adult Education building, located at 220 N. Henderson Blvd. in Kilgore.
Tuition is $1,150 for in-state students and $1,700 for out-of-state students.
The program is physically demanding as well as academically challenging and the TCFP strongly recommends all students be able to read and comprehend with at least a 10th grade reading level.
Students must also present a valid high school diploma, official high school transcript or GED scores with their applications.
