Chris Hooks


Services for Chris Hooks, 51, of Rockdale, formerly of New London, will be 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with Reverend Ben Bagley officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, New London. Mr. Hooks died Tuesday, March 6, 2018 as the results of an automobile accident.

Chris was born April 15, 1966 in Pasadena, Texas, to Bob and Amanda Jane Fleming Hooks. He was a 1984 graduate of West Rusk High School. Mr. Hooks earned his bachelor’s degree in architecture from the University of Texas at Austin. Chris went on to earn his master’s degree in architecture from the University of Texas in Arlington. Mr. Hooks worked for several architect firms including Roger Ford and the SHW Group in Austin.

 Chris was an avid Longhorn fan, a Star Wars admirer, a history buff and a beer aficionado. He enjoyed traveling but his greatest interest was in his nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hooks is survived by his father, Bob Hooks of Rockdale, formerly of New London; a brother, Keith Hooks and his wife Paula of Kilgore; a sister, Karen Gogan and her husband David of Overton; nieces and nephews, Brandon Hooks of Longview, Tiara Calcote of Jacksonville, Ryan Hooks of College Station, Heather Smith of Tyler; an aunt, Billie Manck of Brownsboro, formerly of Henderson; an uncle, Donald Hooks of Henderson.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Amanda Jane Hooks.
