A body was found Wednesday on Hwy. 42 near River Road between Kilgore and White Oak – few details have been released as Gregg County Sheriff’s Department’s investigation continues.
In the ongoing case, there’s no indication of foul play.
According to GCSO Cpl. Josh Tubb, the deceased was discovered a few minutes before noon in the area of the intersection, which falls just south of a bridge spanning the Sabine River.
“One of our deputies, while he was performing his patrol duties, stopped to check the area because of a vehicle,” Tubb reported Wednesday. “Whenever he was checking the area he located the deceased individual and made the proper notifications” to the county’s Criminal Investigation Division.
“They are investigating. At this time, nothing appears to be criminal in nature.”
Though there may be no indication of a crime, Tubb added, CID examines such incidents thoroughly.
“Our investigators investigate the same way on each one of them to make sure the citizens of Gregg County are well-served,” he said, “and the family members are confident in the outcome.”
No new details were released Thursday afternoon.
In particular, “We will not be releasing the name of the individual,” Tubb noted. That said, “There’s still nothing to indicate it is criminal in nature.”
