D’Wayne Shaw discusses variety of courses at Kilgore College
D’Wayne Shaw, Kilgore College Dean of Public Services and Industrial Technologies, tells the Kilgore Lions Club Thursday about the variety of courses of study offered at KC for students seeking an industrial or technical career. Shaw said courses offered at KC in fields like automotive technology and welding used to be offered at the high-school level but many of those programs lost funding and were eliminated. Now, students aiming for a certificate or associate’s degree in a technical field through KC can get started early with dual-credit programs. In the Spring 2019 semester, 536 students were taking 718 classes through the college’s technical dual-credit programs.
