Cryptside services for Evelynn R. Eubanks, 78, of Kilgore will be 11 a.m. Monday, February 5, at Rosewood Park Mausoleum, Longview, with Chaplain Lawrence Thompson and niece Shelley Potter officiating. Miss Eubanks passed away on February 1, 2018 in Longview.
A 1957 graduate of Kilgore High School, Evelynn found her passion as a flight attendant for Braniff Airlines in the ‘60s heyday of colorful planes and Pucci uniforms. She helped Braniff open their far east routes, was president of Braniff’s Flight Attendant Union and rose to senior leadership. She was most proud of Braniff’s efforts with Pacific Military Airlift Command Charters to Vietnam. She traveled the world, was a gourmet cook, avid football fan, and had many wonderful experiences along the way, including meeting a young Elvis Presley in 1954.
Born in Kilgore on June 29, 1939, she loved her hometown and returned to assist her parents Jack Lowe and Rose Meyer Eubanks and to be close to her beloved brother Jerry and sister-in-law Nora Gene Eubanks.
She is survived by sister-in-law, Nora Gene Eubanks of Longview; nephew, Jay and Karen Eubanks of McKinney; nieces, Shelley Eubanks Potter and husband Jeff of Dallas and Crissy Baton Henderson and husband Chris of Round Rock; and numerous grandnieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Rader Funeral Home Kilgore Sunday afternoon between 2-4 p.m.
