Grace Thornbrugh Lowe of Bedford, Texas, was born on December 22, 1941 in Kilgore.
She was a Kilgore College Rangerette who high-kicked in the Cotton Bowl and married her high school sweetheart and football star Johnny Lowe. Theirs was truly a fairy-tale love story. She died October 15, 2017 at 11:25 p.m., holding the hand of him, surrounded by their children, Jeff, Jason, and Julie.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mildred Heath Spencer; her father, Howard E. Thornbrugh; her step-mother, Bille Lee Thornbrugh, and her beloved sister, Donna Jean Ragan.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Johnny Wayne Lowe of Bedford; her children, Jeff and Kellie Lowe of Bedford, Jason and and Christina Lowe of Arlington, Julie and Chad Lunsford of Carrollton; and her nine grandchildren, whom she adored, Kennedy, Taylor, Hayden, Walker, Hudson, Mallory, Mitchell, Charlotte and Kathleen.
Gracie was a member of First Baptist Euless. She was a wonderful, respected and admired teacher who taught school for 32 years. She retired from Irving ISD. She was loved by all her friends and family, and she loved others well.
Funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, October 19, at First Baptist Euless in Euless, with committal service to follow at 3 p.m. at Laneville Cemetery.
