From this point until the end of the regular season, it’s all district, all the time for both Kilgore High School basketball teams.
And so far, honestly, so good for both.
Kilgore’s girls and boys basketball squads visited District 16-4A newcomer Cumberland Academy in Tyler on Friday, and came away with a sweep: coach Trushundra McGill’s Lady ‘Dogs won big, 49-19, and then coach Jeff Coleman’s Bulldogs followed suit, 57-41.

They’ll both be on the road on Friday at Bullard (starting with subvarsity games at 5), and then both have the district bye on Tuesday.
Kilgore 49, Cumberland 19 (girls): Jada Abercrombie and Alexis Anderson each scored 11 points, as KHS took Cumberland to the woodshed Friday night.
Abercombie had six rebounds and five steals, and Anderson had five rebounds, two steals and blocked two shots.
Also for Kilgore, Mariya Mitchell had seven points and five rebounds, and Jamaria Thomas had seven points, three steals and five assists.
Kilgore ‘s girls are 17-6 overall and 3-1 in district play.
Kilgore 57, Cumberland 41 (boys): Senior Deiontrae Wheat put the Bulldogs on his back in this one, scoring 25 points, his high for the season. Seth Thomas had eight points and 10 rebounds.
The ‘Dogs are 15-7 overall and 2-1 against district competition.
