“Be at war with your vices, at peace with your neighbors, and let every new year find you a better man.”

TO ALL our loyal readers and correspondents: Happy New Year!

HAPPY New Year and Happy Kwanzaa.
KWANZAA was established in 1966 by Ron Karenga, aiming to reconnect black Americans to their African roots and recognize their struggles as a people by building community. It is observed from Dec. 26 to Jan. 1. Derived from the Swahili term, “matunda ya kwanza,” which means “first-fruits,” Kwanzaa is based on African harvest celebrations such as the seven-day Umkhost of Zululand.
SUCCESS story in the making… Chip Hale, he of Overton Films and the Reel East Texas Film Festival, has already received four submissions for next November’s festival.
