WELL, we have a new addition to the newsroom: Page “Deadline” Malone has quickly been claiming her favorite spots for catnaps. Ask Jalayna about the name when you stop by to give Deadline a scratch behind the ears. She’s a sweetheart, even to the editor.

SHE joins us from Longview Animal Care & Adoption Center. Excellent facility, great stuff. Thanks for making Page part of the family here.

SEVEN restaurants have signed up for Relay for Life’s 2019 Taste-off Monday at First Baptist Church of Kilgore. Check out the story above then get your tastebuds warmed up and your wallets open to enjoy some fine food while you support cancer survivors and assist American Cancer Society in the ongoing battle against a terrible disease.

IT’S two weeks and change until Beta Sigma Phi crowns the 2019 First Lady of Kilgore. RSVP now for the April 5 event at St. Luke’s by calling Cynthia Seibert at 903-985-0231. In the meantime, we’ll try to get our hands on the name – you’ll find it on the web that night and in the April 6 edition.

WE were scolded Tuesday afternoon (rightfully-so) for neglecting to send in a wedding RSVP. For the record, yes, we’ll be there.

THE hot item Sunday night at the Rotisserie Rickshaw was mushrooms, by far. Follow Russell Bauer and Ayrton Chapman’s other Edible Carnival art installations online at

CATCH your breath today and tomorrow: there’s a litany of events beginning this week and stretching through the end of May. Find a calendar in ETC Magazine in Saturday’s edition.

REMINDER: Those who attend Thursday’s BINGO fundraiser at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church get to be taste-testers for desserts sisters Carrie Jackson and Julie Beck are trying out before catering a wedding. A full dinner starts at 6 p.m. at $12 for adults and $7 for kids 12-and-younger. BINGO is $10 per card or three cards for $20.

ALSO, it’s your very, very last chance to get on the list for Friday night’s glow golf event hosted by the Kilgore Chamber at Meadowbrook. If you’re angling for a final spot at ‘Beers, Clubs & Bugs,’ cross your fingers and call 903-984-5022.
