“Men occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of them pick themselves up and hurry off as if nothing ever happened.”

– Sir Winston Churchill

OUR friend Bob Bustin will be inducted into the Kilgore College Hall of Fame next Saturday.

BOB was a member of the 1954 conference champion KC Rangers. After being named All-Conference here, he transferred to Baylor and played football there. (If you ask nicely, he’ll probably show you his knee.)

IN addition to his individual honor next week, the entire 1954 Ranger football team will be installed in the KC Hall of Fame.

IN addition, Kenny Mobbs, Terry George, Dana Ransom and Richard Fothergill will be added to the hall of fame. A handful of other individuals – former coaches and athletes – will also be inducted.

TICKETS to the luncheon – Saturday at 11:30 in the Devall Center – are $15 each. For more information, call the office of athletic director Jimmy Rieves at 903-988-7536.

KILGORE Night Out is Tuesday.

FOURTEEN neighborhood parties are scheduled to start at 6:30 and end at about 8:30 .

A COMPLETE list of party hosts and addresses is at tinyurl.com/KNO2018parties – or you can go back and read that list in Wednesday’s paper.

THE parties are an opportunity to get to know your neighbors and to meet Kilgore firefighters and police officers who make the rounds.

STARTLING statistic: The Spansh Flu epidemic of 1918-1920 infected as many as 500 million people worldwide and killed somewhere between 50 and 100 million – three to five percent of the global populace.

EQUALLY startling: the U.S. Defense Casualty Analysis System reports, 58,220 Americans died in (and as a result of) the Vietnam War. According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, 72,000 Americans died as a result of drug abuse in 2017.
