Officers in Kilgore are ever-ready to offer advice on how parents can keep their youngest passengers safe: the police department hopes to drive the point home with another car seat and booster seat clinic April 17.
The free check-up runs 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday in the old Brookshire’s parking lot at 800 U.S. Hwy. 259.
“We will ensure you leave with the proper seat fitted for your child,” and the department is urging residents to share the news about the safety program so no one misses the no-cost opportunity.
Participants will learn how to select the appropriate car seat for their child passengers, and officers will help pinpoint the best location for it in a vehicle. They’ll give tips on how to correctly install the seats and how to properly harness children.
Notably, child passengers must be present for an accurate seat check.
Co-sponsors of the event include Baylor Scott & White Health, Texas KidSafe and the Texas Department of Transportation’s Save a Life initiative.
