Gregg Co. DU banquet Oct. 12

The 48th Annual Gregg County DU Banquet will be next Thursday, Oct. 12, at 5:30 p.m. at Longview’s Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center. Sharon Denton is the 2017 area chairperson.

Tickets to the event are $50 for a single, $80 for a couple, and $25 for children under 18. Each ticket includes all the evening’s activities and a year’s membership in Ducks Unlimited. Special sponsor packages with reserved seating are also available.

The 2017 Gregg County DU banquet will feature items not available at other DU events. According to Denton, this banquet has a special hunting knife hand-made especially for this event. The live auction also features a custom-made deer stand, made specifically for this event. For football fans, a Dallas Cowboys helmet, autographed by quarterback Dak Prescott, is on the live auction.

Besides these unique items, Gregg County DU will present a special flag to Chief Mike Bishop of the Longview Police Department. This flag represents DU’s unwavering support for law enforcement and is presented on behalf not only of Gregg County DU, but of Ducks Unlimited, Inc. as well.

“We recognize and appreciate the job that our officers do,” Denton said. “And we want them to know that we support them.”

Volunteers from Kilgore High School DU, the current Texas state champion high school chapter, will be on hand to help with all the youth activities and to raffle off a special DU shotgun. The money they raise will go toward their efforts to win a third consecutive Texas high school DU state championship.
