LC falls to Miller Grove
A return trip to the University Interscholastic League’s Class 1A state volleyball tournament will have to wait until at least next year for Leverett’s Chapel, whose season came to an end Tuesday night at Hawkins.
The Lady Lions lost to the Miller Grove Hornets, 10-25, 22-25, 17-25. LC finished its season with a 20-18 overall record.
LC had made the regional finals back in 2015, then made the state tournament last year. They rallied this season after a rough start in district play to make the playoffs, beat Yantis, but then ran into a talented Miller Grove team.
Still, Yesenia Avalos had nine kills and 24 digs. Skyla Craig had 18 digs. Sara Williamson had eight kills, a block, four digs and three aces. Gracie Bathke had a kill, 11 digs, 12 assists and an ace. Aubrey Williamson had a kill, 10 digs and two aces, and Michelle Jamaica had 11 digs and an ace.
