Craven wins for KHS at UT-Tyler

Zoe Craven, who led the Kilgore High School girls at the UIL state cross-country meet last fall, added another win to her credit last Saturday, as she finished the Tyler Lee-sponsored UT-Tyler Cross-Country Classic in the top spot. Craven won in 11 minutes, 59.27 seconds.

Teammate Cristina Rosas came in fourth (12:15.91), and Emma Taylor, 13th (12:45.78). Vanessa Valasco finished in 13:36.96; Estrella Galvan in 13:39.10; Maria Whitaker in 13:40.84; and Jackie Estrella in 13:47.74. The KHS girls were second overall.

Sabine’s Macy Rutland was their top finisher (13:35.73). Sabine’s David Robinson finished fifth (17:46.39) in the small school boys 5K.

For the KHS boys, Erik Gonzalez was the top finisher, in 20:42.94.

Both Kilgore teams are at Flying H Ranch in Hallsville this Saturday at 8 a.m.

VOLLEYBALL

KHS at Gilmer Friday; KMS online

The Kilgore High School volleyball team will play at Gilmer on Friday, starting with varsity at 4:30 p.m. This is the second District 16-4A matchup for Kilgore; they were to host Henderson on Tuesday, after the deadline for this issue of the News Herald.

BASEBALL

KBBA meeting Sept. 26

The annual board and officer election meeting for the Kilgore Boys Baseball Association will be Wednesday, Sept. 26 at the board room at the former parks on Harris Street. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m.; the public is invited to attend.
