KHS slips to PT; girls lose close one at Brownsboro
It’s still early in the season for both Kilgore High School basketball teams, who are feeling their way through their non-district schedules.
Kilgore’s Lady Bulldogs, led by first-year coach Shun McGill, had their road game moved up a day this week, and lost at Brownsboro, 52-49.
The Lady ‘Dogs are 11-4 overall but have a while off; they’ve played in a few tournaments and have already played 15 games this season. But they won’t play again until next Friday, Dec. 14, at home against Henderson.
District play will start for the KHS girls at Gilmer on Dec. 18.
Seth Thomas led Kilgore with 15 points, but coach Jeff Coleman’s Bulldogs came up short at Pine Tree Friday night, 56-45.
J.J. Sparkman of PT led all scorers with 26.
The Bulldogs are 1-2 on the season, and were to play at Palestine on Tuesday, after the deadline for this issue of the News Herald. They’re in a tournament at Union Grove this weekend, starting Thursday. Kilgore gets John Tyler to open the tournament on Thursday morning at 9:20, at Union Grove Middle School gym.
The ‘Dogs are back home Tuesday against Pittsburg (a 5 p.m. freshmen game start) and then visit Jacksonville Dec. 14. They also open district play at Gilmer on Dec. 18.
