Lois “Haggar” Williams Shephard


Funeral services for Lois “Haggar” Shephard, 83, of Kilgore will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 4, at Unity Tabernacle House of Faith with Bishop Stanley Lawson officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Victory Funeral Services.

Lois was born to Lonnie and Minnie Sibley Williams in Overton on Sunday, February 18, 1934 and died Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at Whispering Pines Nursing & Rehab Center in Longview.

Lois was a member of New Hope Church of Christ from an early age and attended until her health failed.

She received her education at New Hope and Mayflower Schools and completed her courses at Ned E Williams High School.

She was married to the late George L. Shephard.

She was preceded in death by parents, sisters Tommie E. Williams, Alberta Williams, Lorine Gibbs and Ora V. Walker, brothers Marco “Sandy” Williams and Clifford Ray Williams, son Derrea “Cookie” Shephard and one grandson.

She remains in the hearts of her children, Love Monroe and husband Gary of Amarillo, Minnie L. Shephard of Whitehouse, George L. Shephard III, Fannie M. Malone and husband Bobby, Julia E. Dunn, and Johnny B. Shephard, all of Kilgore, Marcell “Wolf” Shephard, Jo Ann Allison, Eugene Shephard and wife Belindra, and Marcus Shephard and wife Detric, all of Longview; two step-daughters, Betty Murphy of Tyler and Dasha Shephard of Longview; four sisters, Vivian Nell “Caroline” Williams, Celia Ann “Rat” Coleman, Ruby Jewel McCelland and Mildred Lee James, all of Kilgore; 19 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Public viewing will be Friday, November 3, from noon until 7 p.m. at Victory Funeral Services. There will be no wake.
