Services for Phara Gordon White, 96, of Kilgore will be held at Rader Funeral Home at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13. Officiating the ceremony will be David Hampton and Dr. Pete Freeman. Interment will follow at the Danville Cemetery.
Phara went to be with her Lord in the evening of Tuesday, January 9, 2018. Phara was born November 27, 1921 in Chicota, Lamar County, Texas, to John Tiffen Gordon and Sina Stubblefield Gordon. She graduated from Chicota High School, and attended Paris Junior College, Kilgore Junior College and the Tyler Eastern School of Nursing.
Retired after working 32 years at the Kilgore Medical Clinic, Phara was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Kilgore. Evidence showed her call to mission as she cared for those less fortunate while serving on the Mission Committee of her church. She served many years as Director of WMU in the Gregg County Baptist Association and was a faithful supporter of Primera Mision Bautista Church of Kilgore. Phara was a volunteer from day one at Helping Hands and continued to volunteer for many years. She treasured the friendships she made while being a member of Kilgore Church Women where she served as coordinator for Meals on Wheels for 11 years. Phara’s church family was a big part of her life, especially the members of her Sunday school class.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, A.B. (Doc) White; sisters, Pauline (Penny) McAnnally Jones and Margaret Love; brothers, Travis W. Gordon and wife Opal Hunter, and James Harry Gordon and wife Retha Gray; nieces, JoAnn McAnally Forman, Linda Jones Ball, Elvira Gordon Pratt and Barbara Gordon Clifton; nephews, Charles Gordon, Marion Gordon, James Gordon McAnally, Robert L. Gordon and J.T. Gordon; brother in law, Howard W. Frye.
