Rebecca Carolyn Wegenhoft DeWitt completed her earthly journey on Thursday, December 20, 2018, in Pasadena, Texas, surrounded by her children.
Carolyn was born August 20, 1940, in Houston to Jesse and Lorena Wegenhoft. The loves of her life were her children and grandchildren. Carolyn attended Columbus Public Schools and studied three years at the University of Texas in Austin. While attending the University of Texas at Austin, Carolyn met the love of her life, Tom G. DeWitt, Jr. The couple married and moved to Waco, Texas in 1963 where Tom went to Baylor Law School. She was preceded in death by her late husband, Tom G. DeWitt, Jr., in October 1982. After the passing of her husband, Carolyn finished raising the children while attending and successfully graduating from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1988. Carolyn was a loving daughter, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother who enjoyed traveling, antiquing, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she has touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her three children and grandchildren; son and daughter-in-law, Tom G. DeWitt III and wife D'Anne Ebarb DeWitt of Bacliff, Texas; daughter and son-in-law, Marlo DeWitt Senick and her husband, Craig Senick of Dallas; son, James Jeffrey DeWitt of Dallas; grandchildren Zachary Foxworth, Tom G. DeWitt IV., Colin Matthew Senick, and Grant Michael Senick. She is also survived by her sister, Martha Wegenhoft Mangum, and her nephew, Michael Mangum of Columbus, Texas.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lorena Wegenhoft.
A Life Celebration graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m, Saturday, January 5, 2019, In Kilgore City Cemetery.
