A Celebration of Life for Richard C. Till, 56, of Leverett’s Chapel will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, in the Chapel of Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore with Rev. Jerry Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in the Kilgore City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Mr. Till completed his earthly journey on Saturday, June 2, 2018 at his home in Leverett’s Chapel.
Richard was born on December 7, 1961, in Overton to Flynn and Dorothy Till. He graduated from Leverett’s Chapel High School in 1980. Richard went to work for the City of Kilgore in 1981 and retired after more than 30 years.
Richard was one of Leverett’s Chapel ISD biggest supporters and fans. He always attended everything that he could to show his “Lion Spirit.” Richard was a lifelong member of Laird Hill Baptist Church. In his free time he enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, watching NASCAR and riding 4 wheelers. Richard spent every morning with his friends having breakfast at TJ’s Circle Cafe in Kilgore. His family was the source of his strength and spending time with them was when he was happiest.
Left to cherish his memory are his mother, Dorothy Till Terry of Troup; sisters, Karen Pepper and husband Clifford of New London, Cheryl Till of Troup; special nephew, Joey Gunn and Joanna of Leverett’s Chapel; nephew, Dakota Pepper and wife Whitney of Turnertown; niece, LaKisha Allen and husband William of Winona, and special aunt Peggy Jones of Kilgore. Also, left to carry on his legacy are numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family members.
Richard was preceded in death by his grandparents, James Wood, Opal Wood Cates, Felix and Bertha Till, Viola Till, his father Flynn Till and his brother Michael Till.
