Graveside services for Sara Walker McCarty, 67, of Kilgore will be held at 2 p.m. in the Tage Cemetery in Bowie on Friday, March 17, under the direction of Rader Funeral Home of Kilgore. Mrs. McCarty completed her earthly journey on Monday, March 13, 2017 in Tyler. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, March 16, from 6-8 in the evening.
Sara was born on December 10, 1949 in Nocona to Lewis and Hazle Walker. She graduated from Goldberg High School and received her Vocational Nursing Education at Cook County Community College. She later went on to obtain her massage therapy instructor license and she owned/operated McCarty School of Massage Therapy.
Sara worked in the Long Term Care Nursing field and touched many lives throughout the East Texas area. She enjoyed singing, playing games, collecting dolls and Coca-Cola memorabilia and cooking. Her family was the source of her strength and spending time with them brought her the greatest joy.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 35 years, Harvey McCarty of Kilgore; children, Chan McCarty, Chris McCarty, Shelly McCarty; 11 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; siblings, Jay Walker and wife Roxanne of Oklahoma, Bob Walker and wife Pam of Bowie; special cousin, Karen Caldwell and husband Gary of Wichita Falls. Also, left to carry on her legacy are numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and other loving family members.
Preceding her in death are her parents, daughters Niki McCarty and Chastity Rogers, daughter-in-law April McCarty, great-grandson Jesse McCarty and siblings Sue Chancellor and Kirk “Sonny” Walker.
