Sabine Education Foundation raised about $40,000 from its first fundraiser last year, and the group aims to better the goal Oct. 13 in their second attempt at Rockin’ the Foundation.
Plans are coming together quickly, says foundation president Misty Gee, with more than 40 tables reserved for the Saturday night event.
After drawing some 250 guests in October 2017, “We’re expecting about 320 this year” between sponsored tables and individual ticket sales.
The gates open at 6 p.m. Oct. 13 at Winona’s 4B Farms with the festivities kicking off at 7 p.m. The evening includes dinner, a live auction and live music from the local rockers of Dagnabbit. Tickets are $50 per person, and table sponsorships are still available.
In May, the Cardinal Prize Patrol distributed oversized checks totaling $39,600 between 17 grants to 24 teachers on Sabine’s three campuses (in addition to nine $100 mini-grants). Proceeds from this year’s event will also be invested in innovated projects at Sabine ISD.
The prospects are looking good, Gee said. Between advance ticket sales and almost 35 auction items up for grabs, she’s eager to exceed the 2017 take.
“I’m hoping to. I haven’t put a number out,” she said. “I think that we will.”
Rockin’ the Foundation is an adults-only event, tailored for ages 21-and-older. The bash runs until midnight at 12274 CR 370 in Winona. The night’s prime sponsors include Bates Properties, C&S Lease Services and the Clements family.
