The Kilgore High School and Kilgore Middle School bands have had a fantastic year! Both bands recently went to UIL contest and received all superior scores. Receiving these scores means that each band won sweepstakes. This was the first time for the KMS band to earn all 1s in more than 17 years. Congratulations to our band students and their directors.

Kilgore Middle School will host a community education event entitled Generation Rx, Safe Medication Practices for Life on Thursday. Brittany Parmentier, PhD, from the UT Tyler School of Pharmacy, will tell about latest research and help our parents get practical tips about talking to their teens about the dangers of prescription drug abuse. This is a free event with pizza provided and will take place from 6 p.m. April 20.

The Kilgore Intermediate School students recently participated in academic UIL. Their team placed third overall. Way to go!

Hannah Beets, third grade teacher at Chandler Elementary, recently demonstrated Parkour for the students. Beets believes that a strong body goes hand in hand with a strong mind. She teachers her students that confidence in movement and balance will help them make better choices in everything they do.

Last, but certainly not least… Congratulations to the KHS Soccer team! State Champs!
