The Texas High School Coaches Association announced its 2024-2025 Texas Farm Bureau Insurance regional football coaches of the year on Tuesday, and Kilgore Head Football Coach Clint Fuller was among the recipients.

THSCA members had an opportunity to nominate head coaches and assistants for the coach of the year honors. Athletic directors from across Texas then made up a THSCA Awards Committee to review nominations and eventually choose the most deserving individuals.

Fuller was recognized when he received the 2024-2025 THSCA Region 6 Class 4A football head coach of the year honor after Kilgore’s 13-3 record and Class 4A Division I state title game appearance in 2024.

“Clint’s done a great job since he’s been here,” Kilgore Athletic Director Mike Wood said of Fuller. “His leadership is paramount. His vision for this program, the hard work that he’s put in, the buy-in by the kids and his program, and the way that he does things is a testament to who he is as a person and coach.”

Wood served as Kilgore’s head football coach between the 2010 and 2020 seasons, and eventually handed the reins to Fuller when retained his athletic director responsibilities in 2021. He liked what he saw in the hiring process, and it’s already resulted in Fuller’s 46-11 head coaching record in four completed seasons. The Bulldogs have also enjoyed playoff pushes to the 2021 regional semifinal, 2022 and 2023 regional finals, and their first state championship game visit since Wood’s 2013 group.

“He was certainly impressive in the interview,” Wood said of Fuller. “He’d been with some really good programs and he had built himself. One of his goals was to be a head coach and he certainly put in the work. He’s a great role model for our athletes, and he’s got the trust of our kids and community.”
